Ping Pong, the dim sum chain led by Art Sagiryan, has secured its 10th site in the UK, after taking a site at Westfield Stratford for an opening early next year, M&C Report understands.

The group, which recently opened a site at the Wembley Designer Outlet under a new evolved restaurant design, has taken the Jon Makan site at the shopping scheme.

Regarding the new design roll-out, Sagiryan recently told M&C Report: “We are going to do it gradually.” There could be one more in this current financial year (to the end of March) and maybe be two or three in the following year, he suggested.

Earlier this year, the group placed three of its sites in London on the market through CBRE, including its Now takeaway site in Liverpool Street. It is thought that offers have been made on the three restaurant sites.

The Wembley restaurant features a cocktail bar near the entrance. The dim sum counter has been moved to the front, allowing diners to watch their meals being prepared in front of them. They can also observe their tea being poured at the “tea bar”.

Regarding the international franchise business, he said Ping Pong’s franchisee in India has secured a second site that’s expected to open in about four months, with a third also on the cards.

Earlier this month it was announced that Ping Pong has entered into a franchise agreement that will see it further expand in the United Arab Emirates, with eight restaurants planned to open over the next eight years.

DCL is understood to have acted on the Stratford deal.
