G1 Group, the Scottish leisure operator led by Stefan King, is shaking up its operational team, which will see the departure of directors David Tracey and James Brown, M&C Report understands.

Tracey, the group’s director of brands and standards, has been with the company for nearly six years and it is thought that he might join former colleague David McDowall at BrewDog.

Brown has been with the group for 11 years, including 10 years as head of operations and a further year as director of business development.

Brown, who is believed to be exploring opportunities in London, developed and launched the group’s own booking/enquiry and customer relation management system called Sliced Bread.

The system, which has led to a 92% increase in consumer feedback, was designed to overhaul the company’s entire approach to utilising marketing opportunities and driving sales across the business.

At the start of the year, the 53-strong company appointed Mike Horan, formerly of Ha Ha Bar & Grill and The Living Room, as its new operations director,

Horan, who was director of operations at The Living Room chain, joins the 53-strong group after overseeing the Study Room, the student-friendly concept in Lancaster, that launched last year and in which Punch Taverns invested £450k.

McDowall left late last year to become managing director of BrewDog Bars. He ran the £60m-a-year turnover managed house division of Glasgow-based G1, described as “an eclectic mix of venues from cinemas and clubs to restaurants and large hybrid venues”, and which includes the award-winning Corinthian Club.
