Dynamo, a new Antipodean-style café, restaurant and cycling shop concept, which counts Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) chief executive Alasdair Murdoch as a non-executive director, is set to launch next year in London, M&C has learnt.

The concept, which is the brainchild of Matt Utber, founder of creative design agency The Plank, will open its first site on the former Kitchenette unit in Putney next spring.

Utber is being advised on the project by GBK’s head of food Tim Molema, while Capricorn Ventures director Jane O’Riordan is also believed to be a non-executive.

The concept will offer breakfast, brunches and wood-fired pizzas.

The venture will also feature a downstairs cycle workshop and clubroom

The company said: “Get your bike serviced or repaired, share a beer with the mechanic, and go for a ride with new friends. We’ll look after you, both at work and out on the road.”

The Kitchenette was the UK debut restaurant launch from Turkish restaurant business, the Istanbul Doors Restaurant Group (IDRG), which is also the backer of Tom Aikens.

It launch the Kitchenette, its Mediterranean style cafe-bar-brassiere brand, on the former Malcolm John Fish & Grill site in Putney in September 2013. The site closed late last year.
