Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecote, the French brasserie chain, is set to close its site in Manchester, just under a year after its opening, M&C Report understands.

The group, which is led by managing director Mourad Dine, opened its first regional site in the UK, in the city’s King Street last year, but it is thought that trading at the restaurant has not matched that of the group’s three sites in London.

Cote is rumoured to be looking at the site for its first opening in the North West.

The company, which was founded in 1959 by Paul Gineste de Saurs, currently operates restaurants in London in Marylebone, Throgmorton Street and Mackenzie Walk in Canary Wharf.

It also has restaurants in New York and Paris.

The chain is famous for serving steak frites, with a starter of green salad with walnuts dressed with mustard vinaigrette.
