Renowned chef and restaurateur Ivan Orkin is launching a ramen concept with Sessions, which be rolled out across the UK as a virtual brand.

The partnership will see Mazemen launch an offshoot of his popular Ivan Ramen brand, which has been developed exclusively for Sessions.

His food will be available for a four-week residency at Sessions’ Islington venue, Neighbourhood, and for 12-weeks at its Brighton food hall, Shelter Hall - launching on February 9th and 10th respectively.

After the residencies, the Ivan Mazemen brand will scale across Sessopms’ 100+ partner delivery kitchens.

The menu showcases his signature mazemen dishes served in his internationally acclaimed ramen shops in Japan and New York and made famous from his starring role in the 2017 Netflix Chef’s Table series.

Mazemen is a broth-less ramen made with a concentrated sauce and thick flat rye noodle. Packed with umami, Ivan’s mazemen dishes have been a staple on his menu since 2006.

Ivan is widely recognised as the American authority on ramen and all things Japanese cookery.

He speaks fluent Japanese and initially fell in love with Japan and its cuisine after working in a sushi shop in his hometown when he was 15. He was captivated from the start and it has shaped the rest of his life.

Opening ramen shops in Japan, where ramen enjoys cult-like status, Ivan Ramen became one of the top places to eat ramen in Tokyo.

More ramen shops in Japan followed, and in 2012 he returned to New York with plans to launch there.

Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop opened and his first cookbook, Ivan Ramen, followed in 2013.
