Erpingham House, the Norwich-based vegan café and restaurant concept, has taken on the former Big Fernand site in Percy Street, Fitzrovia, for its debut in London, MCA understands.

The plant-based restaurant, which was founded by Loui Blake, will re-open the site in the autumn under the name Kalifornia Kitchen.

Erpingham House launched earlier this year in a grade II-listed former steakhouse in Norwich’s Tombland area.

The site operates as a café by day and restaurant by night and is also in the process of adding a members’ club.

Big Fernand, the French burger restaurant, put the site on the market in 2016 but it finally closed its doors in March of this year.

The group still operates almost 50 sites across France.
