Chop Pot, the West African grab and go concept is close to securing its third site and is on track to grow its estate to five central London sites this year, founder Affia Bioh told M&C Report.

Bioh said the third site will be in the City and is expected to open in May or June to join the existing sites at the O2 Centre and at Cheapside, which opened in November.

The newest site will trial an evolved format from the original two venues to incorporate an open kitchen. Bioh said: “The new site will be slightly bigger going towards the casual dining space with more seating and a bit more theatrical so customers can see how the food is prepared to create more of an African and Ghanaian environment. I think that’s what’s missing at the moment, I want to be able to show people how some of the dishes are prepared.”

Former project manager in the banking sector Bioh said she expects the group to be on track to grow its estate to five sites this year, adding the third will be the decider to see how it trades over the summer.

The menu for the third site will be tweaked to include more traditional Ghanaian dishes that can be cooked in the open kitchen.

Chop Pot serves a range of traditional West African soups, stews and dishes for lunch and supper. A breakfast menu is also being developed.

The dishes are gluten and dairy free with a number of vegetarian and vegan options.

The company also sells its chilled soups and vegetable pots in Selfridges and Budgens and is looking to get into more supermarkets.
