Vegetarian restaurant 1847 is set to double its estate over the next few months, after securing sites in Bristol and Edinburgh, M&C understands.

The group, which is led by Damien Davenport, will open its third site in Bristol’s St Stephens Street at the end of next month.

It will follow this up with its first opening in Scotland, in Edinburgh, later this autumn.

In line with its expansion, the company is seeking to bolster its head office team with the appointments of a sales director and a commercial director.

Earlier this year, the group failed in raising £60k through online crowdfunding site Kickstarter to expand with a third site in Liverpool. It is thought that an opening in the city is still on the group’s radar.

The first 1847 was opened by Davenport in Manchester in 2011 and subsequently added to with a second site in Birmingham that opened in 2013.

The concept is named after the year the Vegetarian Society was created.
