Young’s has bought a Cotswolds pub named best turnaround site at last year’s Great British Pub Awards, M&C Report has learnt.

The London-based pub operator bought the The Bell Inn, Stow-on-the-Wold, from Sue Hawkins and her niece Rachel, who have transformed several pubs in the area.

M&C Report understands the company paid a seven-figure sum for the site.

Included in the purchase of pub are 13 boutique style bedrooms. Five of these are above the Bell and eight are at Stuart House - an eight-bedroom boutique hotel located 800yds from the pub.

Both the Bell & Stuart House were reopened in February 2014 after extensive refurbishments.

Young’s retail director, Patrick Dardis, said: “The Bell fits perfectly into the Young’s high quality estate, offering high quality locally sourced menu, craft beers and extensive wine list.

“Combined with the recent acquisition of the Lamb in Hindon, Wiltshire the Bell compliments Young’s existing hotel estate with venues that appeal to the growing ‘leisure break’ market.”

The acquisition increases Young’s total bedrooms to 476 across the estate, up from 395 at the start of 2014.
