Inventive Leisure, the Revolution bar operator, has had significant trading restrictions put in place at its Leadenhall Market outlet in London, pending a review of the licence, M&C Report understands. It is thought that the venue is not allowed to trade to its normal hours – having to close early in the evening – and has been instructed to use plastic drink receptacles instead of glass. Roy Ellis, chief executive, told M&C: “As a result of two incidents that led to injuries to customers, the senior management of Inventive Leisure have joined the City police and licensing authorities in conducting a review of operating and security procedures at Revolution Leadenhall.” Ellis, who founded the company with business partner Neil Macleod in the 1990s, said he was confident that any issues would be resolved. Inventive, backed by Alchemy Partners, spent £2m opening the site last year. It carries an annual rent of £300,000 – equating to £6,000 per week. It is thought that bar took more than £250,000 in sales in the week before Christmas.
