Red Door, the Living Ventures spin-off bar group, has closed its Leeds site in order to concentrate on its two remaining bars, MCA has learnt.

Lee Lynch, who founded the group with the late Tim Bacon and Dave Hinds, said the Leeds site in Hirsts Yard had returned disappointing sales after opening in the summer of 2017.

He said: “We did go to Leeds for a short time, but it didn’t work out.

“The location wasn’t as good as we previously thought, it wasn’t doing the sales we hoped for, so we decided to close and focus on the stronger part of the business

“For the time being we are concentrating on consolidating, and getting cash flow healthy and strong. After that, in six to eight months we will start to look for new sites.”

Red Door has sites remaining in Liverpool and Chester, having also left its Deansgate site, which was in the basement of The Botanist.

The business operates as a separate entity from Living Ventures, though has a service relationship with the group, with Jeremy Roberts and Andrew Haigh listed as directors.
