Permain Pubs, the food-led Surrey pub group run by former Blubecker’s chief Richard Brown, will open its sixth pub this May.

The group, which changed its name last year from RB & AH to mark a shift towards a higher corporate profile for the company, is currently refurbishing the Wheatsheaf in Esher.

It is looking to add one site a year to its portfolio.

Brown told M&C Report that he hoped the name change would help attract new talent.

The company, which describes itself as operating “smart gastropubs”, currently operates the Red Lion, Horsell; the Three Horseshoes, Laleham; the Onslow Arms, Clandon; the Old Plough, Cobham; and The Crown, St. Margarets.
