Pitcher & Piano, the Marston’s-owned bar chain, is to open its site in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, following a £400,000 refurbishment that will see it move away from being a late-night venue.

The 2,900-square-foot, 268-cover site will now have an all-day offering, open for breakfast and lunch through to post-work drinks, dinner and cocktails.

The upper first floor features a mix of seating styles, including communal high tables with zinc tops, wooden benches, leather Chesterfield sofas and low industrial stools. The lower ground floor is a “bright and airy space for dinner or cocktails”, the company said, with textured wallpaper, velvet fabrics and vibrant “pops” of colour.

Festoon lighting, colourful seating and new planting have been added to the large alfresco area.

Average spend is expected to be £10 to £15 per person.

Colin Sadler, managing director of Pitcher & Piano, said: “Our aim was to create a relaxed and welcoming bar and restaurant, where people could come anytime of day for drinks and good quality, casual food at a fair price. We feel this has been achieved and are delighted with how the venue is looking after the refurbishment.”
