Tiger Tiger owner Novus Leisure enjoyed a “record” end to the year, with sales and profits up in the six weeks to 2 January off the back of strong Christmas trading. The group, which has 38 venues predominately located in London’s West End and City, including Strawberry Moons and Abacus, saw like-for-like sales increase 7.9% in the period. More than three quarters of Christmas revenue (78%) came via advanced bookings, with the group’s websites up by more than a half (52%) year-on-year. Tiger Tiger saw like-for-like sales growth of 3% with food accounting for 37% of sales. Novus group profit surged 17% as a result. Steve Richards, chief executive of Novus Leisure, said: “We’ve had another record December with our performance matching the results for the year so far and clearly demonstrating the strength of our business model and the ongoing customer appeal of our venues. “We successfully grew market share, maintained margins and advanced bookings were well ahead of last year. We are relatively pleased with the result, but expected to do better, particularly in the regional cities which were badly affected by the snow.”
