Lola Jeans, a north east bar operator, is opening a second site in Newcastle under its cocktail bar format as part of plans to grow the group to 10 sites, M&C Report has learnt.

The first Lola Jeans bar opened in Tynemouth in 2011 by Paul Sample who has since looked to expand the concept and is considering towns and cities across the UK.

Sample told M&C Report that he wants to operate “as many bars as possible” and is aiming at “around 10 good quality, profitable bars.”

“It was always our intention to open more but we had to get the first one right. We have always been looking to grow and to be in the city centre for the last few years.”

“As different properties arise we will look at them and will look at outside investment to grow the business,” Sample said.“We are looking to expand slowly and carefully and to take the right bars on.”

Lola Jeans is due to open mid to late September on Newcastle’s Market Street following a complete refurbishment of the former restaurant site to a “shabby-chic industrial feel”.

The venue, which is named after his daughter Lola, will be a cocktail bar serving high quality food.
