McLean Inns, the family-run group of hotels, pubs and restaurants, has secured its seventh site, after taking on the Olde Swan Hotel in Chertsey.

The group, which is led by managing director Mark Stockhausen, secured the pub that dates back to 1595 and was an important coaching inn for several centuries, for an undisclosed sum, off an asking price of £625k.

The company operates pubs in London and the south east most of which offer B&B accommodation as well as food and drink. It estate includes the Long Room Bar and Hotel in Tooting and the Woodlands Taver in Isleworth.

The Olde Swan features eight en suite bedrooms and a trade patio/garden on its 910sqm site.

“It’s always a pleasure to see a pub with such a history continue to serve its area as it always has done,” said AG&G’s James Grimes, who acted on the deal. “The Olde Swan was built to offer hospitality – and provide a good business, and that’s what it will continue to do.”
