Less than a third of Britons drink at their local pub, with two-thirds claiming that food drives their decision on which pubs to go to, according to a new survey by Privilege Insurance. The survey found that 44%of people who regularly go for a pub meal are prepared to drive more than ten miles, while one in ten is willing to travel twice that distance. The new research found that food was the most important deciding factor on which pub they visited to 18 to 30 year-olds. James Gore, spokesman for Privilege Insurance, said: "With so many great gastro pubs out there serving great food at reasonable prices, we are seeing the return of the weekend drive, as more and more people travel further afield to try out new places." The research, which questioned almost 2,500 people, also found that more people prefer to eat homemade sandwiches in a car park than eat at a motorway service station.
