Iconic London nightclub Fabric is to close permanently after having its licence revoked.

The decision was made by Islington Council, which described a “culture of drugs” that existed at the venue.

The club was already temporarily closed, following the deaths of two teenagers.

Fabric co-founder Cameron Leslie said he was “gutted” at the decision.

A petition to keep Fabric open was signed by 150,000 people, including high profile DJs.

Alan Miller, chairman of the Night Time Industries Association, said: “If it wasn’t for places like Fabric we wouldn’t have any of our cultural assets.

“We’re going to challenge this. This is unacceptable. This isn’t the last word.”
