Everards, the Leicestershire brewer and pub operator, has invested £1.2m in six major pub projects in the past six months, M&C Report has learnt.

That’s in addition to more than £280,000 in combined investments from its licensees.

Investments include: the Waterside in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire, where a new dining room has been added; the White Lion in Whissendine, Rutland, where there’s been a complete overhaul of the bar, restaurant, function rooms and accommodation; and the Sir John Borlase Warren in Nottingham, which has had a complete makeover including the introduction of a wider drinks range and “fresh, contemporary surroundings”.

Recent acquisitions by Everards include the Brown Cow in Mansfield, run under the Project William scheme by RAW Brewing; and the Black Dog in Oadby, Leicestershire. They represent an acquisition investment of £345,000 and refurbishment costs of over £410,000.

Stephen Gould, managing director, said: “We continually invest and develop pubs and are proud to have received awards for recently developed pubs.

”For example, the Sir Robert Peel in Leicester reopened after refurbishment in June 2013 and already received the accolade of runner up in the Leicester CAMRA Pub of the Year 2014 awards – not bad considering it had only been reopen for six months at the time members were voting. We hope that the pubs developed recently will be as popular with their customers.”
