Empire Cinemas, the 14-strong independent multiplex operator, has developed a new luxury cinema, café and bar concept, Tivoli, with the first site due to open in Bath.

Tivoli will launch in the SouthGate centre, with a mission to “merge art-house cinema and casual dining”.

The first venue will include a café-bar lounge, and four 50-seat screening studios, and was developed with design agency, Run For The Hills.

An exclusive 20-seat directors’ lounge and screen will be bookable upon request.

The licensed café-bar and lounge will serve cakes, pastries, coffee, wines, beers and cocktails throughout the day, with seasonal, scratch-cooked and often locally sourced ingredients.

Dishes will include indulgent takes on movie-night favourites, such as wild boar hot dogs, gourmet burgers, pizzas, sharing platters and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Justin Ribbons, chief executive of Empire Cinemas said: “We are very excited to be bringing this new concept to the UK. Tivoli is set to redefine the cinema experience and we look forward to welcoming guests later this year”.

The SouthGate centre is jointly owned by Aviva Investors and British Land.
