CG Restaurants & Bars is to strengthen the national presence of its Dirty Martini brand, after securing sites in Leeds and Birmingham, MCA has learnt.

The eight-strong group, which is led by Scott Matthews, has applied to open at Atlas House in King Street, Leeds, and at the same time, acquired the former Viva Brazil site in Bennetts Hill, Birmingham.

The company, which is gearing up to open in Manchester’s Deansgate later this summer, is to invest £1.75m on the two new sites that will open before the end of the year.

Located at 31 King Street, the Leeds site will be acquired from Atlas Brauhaus. The group plan to invest £800k in the refurbishment of the current restaurant and bar, which has a capacity of 250.

In Birmingham, Dirty Martini have agreed a lease for 7 Bennetts Hill, with REI Plc. An investment of £950k is planned to overhaul the current restaurant.

The regional investment builds upon the recent success of Dirty Martini Cardiff, which the company said had exceeded expectations and generated over 40,000 pre-booked covers since opening late October.

Matthews, chief executive at Dirty Martini, said: “We are excited about bringing our portfolio up to eleven sites with the Birmingham and Leeds locations. Both have a thriving nightlife and we look forward to being a part of it. Our expansion in Cardiff was a huge success, and as a result we are progressing with our national roll out with confidence.”

The bar group currently operates eight sites across the UK in Bishopsgate, Covent Garden, Hanover Square, Islington, Monument, St Paul’s, Minories and Cardiff.
