Camerons, the Hartlepool-based brewer and pub operator, has secured a new venue in Leeds, to become its latest Head of Steam craft and cask ale outlet.

The acquisition of the former Spencers in Mill Hill follows on from recent openings the Pier Inn Whitby and the Dun Cow in Sunderland.

The brewer said the venue is currently closed for extensive refurbishment and is due to open in early December. It said the pub will offer “a great range of craft, cask, world beers and ciders along with a premium range of spirits”.  It will have a range of more than 30 draught products with an emphasis on American and Belgium craft as well as range of local cask ales and ciders. The food offer will be based on pizza and burgers and will feature live music from local artists.

Chris Soley, director and general manager of Camerons said: “We are delighted to once again have a pub back in the magnificent city of Leeds.  Previously Camerons had a number of venues in the city and we are pleased be able to launch our Head of Steam brand here”.

Joe Smith, operations and pub director said: “When we identified potential new venues and locations as part of our expansion plans Leeds was one of the first destination we had on our list.  It is a vibrant city and the Mill Hill area adjacent to the central station is a busy area, with several great pubs creating a fantastic circuit we feel the Head of Steam brand will fit in perfectly with the people of Leeds”. In the site we are going back to the routes of the original Head of Steam strategy of locating close to main line railway stations.”
