Tom Davies, the chief executive of Brakspear, has told M&C the company is close to capacity at its Henley microbrewery after unexpected demand for the company’s first beer in over a decade.

This year also saw Brakspear return to the Great British Beer Festival as a brewer with its Brakspear Special.

The company opened Bell Street Brewery in May 2013 and Davies said he had been overwhelmed by the response.

He said: “It was always designed to be a bit of fun and add an extra element to our first managed pub. But it has been really popular. We are now brewing a couple of times a week and getting very near capacity.”

Asked whether the company would expand the operation, Davies said: “At the moment there are no concrete plans to do that but I would never say never.”
