Bavarian Beerhouse, the German beer house group, has reported revenues of £3.4m for the year ending 31 December 2014.

The figures for the group of three sites represent a 19% increase year on year compared to 2013.

Founder Rene von Reth told M&C Report the company is looking for more sites to open when the right site and location are found with particular interest in Birmingham, Manchester and West London.

The site at Tower Hill has been the “star performer” of the year, which von Reth attributes to its prime location adjacent to a number of hotels in a high tourist footfall area.

“Our site in Bristol has been open two years and has given us good experience that the concept is very popular.

“Our best performer is Tower Hill as it attracts a lot of tourists and there are a lot of hotels around. It is next door to the Hilton Double Tree that sells bottles of beer for £6 so people come to us for beer and food instead.”

He said the group is looking for “constantly looking” for sites in new locations that can seat a minimum of 200 covers in 5,000sq ft in areas of high office populations but has struggled to find suitable sites at the right price.

The company will continue to grow both its company-owned and franchised estate, depending on the location of future sites.

He attributes the growing popularity of the concept to its flexibility for large groups: “Where else can you go with a group of 30 people and sit together on one table, have food and drinks, then afterwards have a party? In a restaurant that would be eight separate tables and if after you want to party you have to go to a different place. That’s one of the key points we see when we take bookings – it’s big groups looking for good service and food.”

“In the beginning this style was pretty new but because London is so international people come together and start to chat.”
