Spend in UK pubs rose by an additional £42.5m over the bank holiday weekend, according to new research.

On average, pubs saw sales rise by £905 over the three days - a £3.4m increase on last year’s August bank holiday, the Epos Now poll of 500 venues showed.

Revenue figures also jumped by 172% on the bank holiday Monday compared to the previous ‘working’ Monday, the survey revealed.

“Unsurprisingly it has been a very profitable weekend for the UK hospitality industry, but it was a surprise to see such a dramatic increase in revenue on the Monday,” Epos Now chief executive Jacyn Heavens said.
