A man who tried to pass a fake £20 note in the Brass Monkey pub in Fareham, Hampshire, was arrested after he fled outside and got stuck to his waist in a mudflat. It took rescuers 15 minutes to free him. He was later charged with possessing counterfeit money after police found £300 worth of fake notes in his pocket. Brass Monkey owner Graham Deacon said: “I only wish he had sunk up to his neck.” The Sunday Telegraph 04/05/08 page 4
