Carol Welch is to step down as chief marketing officer at Costa, after three years with the company.

It is thought that Whitbread will soon announce a replacement for Welch, who was responsible for global brand and innovation across food and beverage, store format and loyalty at Costa

Welch was also general manager of the company’s innovation and digital division.

She previously held senior marketing and innovation roles at PepsiCo, Cadbury Schweppes, Green & Blacks and most recently, Associated British Foods, where she worked on both the Jordans Cereal and Ryvita brands.

At Costa, Welch has overseen the trialling of new formats, such as Costa Fresco, and improving the customer experience.
