Godfrey Russell, who earlier this year stepped down as property director of Revolution Bars Group after 21 years in the role, has reunited with his former boss Roy Ellis at Mission Mars, the Manchester-based group behind Albert’s Schloss and Rudy’s Pizza.

Russell, who has joined Mission Mars as group property director, joined Revolution just a year after the opening of its first eponymous site in Manchester and helped the estate to grow to 73 sites before his departure.

Earlier this year, Mission Mars confirmed a £10m investment from the Business Growth Fund (BGF), to help open a small number of Albert’s Schloss venues across the UK, in prominent buildings in key cities.

It is thought to have shown an interest in some of the sites in the six-strong Bierkeller portfolio, which went into administration earlier this autumn.

Russell was replaced at Revolution by Alex Stanhope, who spent just over a year as property director at the Deltic Group. Stanhope previously held roles at Holland & Barrett and Halfords.
