The Independent Family Brewers of Britain association is under fire for turning down a membership application from Ajmail and Sudarghara Dusanj, who saved one of the country's oldest breweries.
The brothers, who used to run a chip shop, bought the 150-year-old Robert Cains & Co in Liverpool, which was losing £2m a year and facing the threat of closure.
Roger Protz, editor of The Good Beer Guide, is backing the Dusanjs. He described the IFBB's decision as "outrageous".
