Caravan, the Active Partners-backed, all-day cafe and restaurant concept, has appointed Greg Hinchliffe, as its new finance director, MCA has learnt.

Hinchliffe will join Caravan after five years as finance director at the Richard Caring-backed Bill’s. Hinchliffe, who previously had stints at Chime Communications and BDO, had joined Bill’s as its financial controller in June 2012. He will leave Bill’s next month.

Caravan commercial director and co-founder Chris Ammermann told MCA: “We’re really excited to welcome Greg into the Caravan team. With our fifth restaurant in Great Portland Street to open in July and a flagship Coffee Roastery later this year, we felt it was the right time to bring in someone exceptional to manage the financial control of the business. Greg fits the mould perfectly bringing a huge amount of expertise and experience to the role whilst fitting perfectly within the culture of Caravan which is so important to us. We look forward to hopefully many successful years working with Greg.”

The company will open its fifth site in the former BBC Radio 1 recording headquarters. It also be home to the brand’s new Caravan-To-Go (CTG) concept.

The basement will house a ‘record room’ for private dining and parties, while upstairs a large bar joins three dining rooms, aimed at all day dining and after work drinks.

Caravan-To-Go will be supplied by the group’s new sourdough bakery and croissanterie, based at its soon-to-open flagship coffee roaster, in a 8.500 sq ft Victorian Warehouse, north of King’s Cross.
