Papa John’s, the pizza delivery company, has announced incentives worth $2m to attract new UK franchisees and says it’s specifically encouraging applications from Wales, the Midlands, northern England and Scotland. The company, which opened its 200th UK site late last year, said it has reduced its franchise fee and is giving away a top-of-the range oven and electronic point of sale equipment worth £30,000, plus £10,000 worth of marketing spend, to new franchisees whose stores open during 2013. “Last year, we hit our target and opened the 200th Papa John’s stores in the UK and we are now delighted to roll-out this amazing incentive scheme to brand new franchisees as part of our strategic plan to grow store numbers further in the future,” said Dave Bancroft, business development director at Papa John’s. “We are specifically encouraging franchisee applications from Wales, the Midlands, the North of England and Scotland. These franchise opportunities and others we have in locations all around the UK, represent an exciting opportunity for individuals to invest in a rapidly growing business which is also the market leader in its field.” He added: “Papa John’s UK success is largely due to the popularity of our product. Our pizzas are created only using the highest quality ingredients and 100% fresh dough to create a top quality pizza with a better natural flavour. Combine this with excellent customer service, rapid delivery times and a strong brand and the franchise investment serves-up a tempting offer for those looking for a quality franchising opportunity.” Last year Papa John’s founder John Schnatter said the group was looking to open at least another 150 stores in the next three years across the UK. This would represent an investment of £30m and create 2,200 new jobs. Last month Rod McKie, chief executive of motorway service station operator Welcome Break, told M&C Report that he expects to rollout Papa John’s pizza to all its 29 sites within two years after a successful trial. Papa John’s currently operates over 3,900 stores worldwide and in 33 markets around the globe.
