Parminder Uppal has stepped down as chief executive of Jimmy’s World Kitchen after the decision by the family behind the business not to follow its current expansion plans.
Uppal, who has left the 10-strong company, had been chief executive for under a year, but had been with the business for over 10 years as a non-executive director.
He was leading the group’s expansion, search for new funding and strengthening of its board.
He has become regional sales manager, UK & Ireland, at AppDynamics.
As revealed by M&C Report earlier this month, the family’s u-turn on its strategy led to a number of leading industry figures deciding not to take up key positions on the company’s board.
Ed’s Easy Diner chief executive Andrew Guy, who was set to become chairman, and Colin Mayes, who would have been a non-executive, both decided not to join the company.
It is also thought that the halt on the group’s plans has seen Zoe Tindall pass up the role of finance director and cast doubt on the future of new property director Jeremy Smith and operations director Dan Simpson, who were set to join the group last month.
Most recently, Jimmy’s World Kitchen opened its 10th restaurant at the London Design Outlet in Wembley, West London, presenting the “next evolution of its leisure retail proposition with both the design and cuisine taking a step forward”.
Last year, it agreed a new £3.2m debt facility with Natwest for its next three openings and was set to speak to advisers regarding its options after receiving private equity approaches.
