Umu, the third site from Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation, will open its doors in Mayfair this month. Earlier this year the company re-launched the Morton's, the London private member's club and the Michelin-starred restaurant The Greenhouse. Umu, which means 'from the earth', also plans to launch a series of patisseries in the capital 'in the second half of 2004', according to a spokeswoman. It will offer 'reinvented' versions of classic Kyoto food and 70 varieties of sake.
