Eldridge Pope is investing £1m in a new Toad bar in Stourbridge, West Midlands.

The proposed new Toad has been granted a public entertainment licence to operate until 1am Mondays to Saturdays and 12.30am on Sundays, despite some local opposition.

Andrew Sunderland, the bars opening manager, said: "We hope to successfully obtain our drinks licence next month and we look forward to unveiling our new Toad well in time for local people to come and join us to celebrate Christmas."

Eldridge Pope will also open a Toad bar in Southampton on 30 August.

The Toad at the Park, which is located in the city centre, was built at a cost of £1.2m and will be the company's twenty-first Toad

Toad at the Park will cater for up to 550 people and will operate from 11am until midnight Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and until 1am Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with Sunday trading extending until 12.30am
