Scottish & Newcastle has appointed Jeremy Blood as managing director of its Pub Enterprises leased business. Blood, who was previously director of corporate affairs at S&N, has taken over from Andrew Stevenson, who is moving to Baltic Beverage Holdings, the Russian joint venture between S&N and Carlsberg. S&NPE operates about 1,500 pubs, and is also developing a chain of waterside pubs in a joint venture with British Waterways. It operates 364 pubs acquired by Robert Tchenguiz, the property investor, from Spirit Group in December. Blood said he was excited at the prospect of his new role, and said he looked forward to being part of a division that had been "pulling off a couple of very good deals" over the past year. Blood has experience of the pub business from his time with S&N Retail, the managed pub business that was sold to Spirit in 2003.
