Ed’s Easy Diner, Zizzi, Chimichanga and Loungers have all been confirmed for openings at Quayside, the new £60m leisure and lifestyle-lead extension to the Gloucester Quays Outlet Centre.

The signings mean that Quayside, located next to Gloucester’s Historic Docks, is 85% pre-let with seven months to go prior to formal opening.  Several operators will open during the summer.

Quayside will include a state-of-the-art digital 1,600-seat Cineworld 10-screen cinema and up to 11 restaurants and bars along with a 1,486 sq m (16,000 sq ft) health & fitness centre operated by The Gym.

The extension, which offers a mixture of waterside and centre-facing location opportunities, is due to open in December 2013.

The new signings join Nandos and Pizza Express who have had presence in the Gloucester Quays since it opened in 2009.  Up to 500 additional jobs will be created as part of the new extension that will see the centre grow to just under 23,225 sq m (250,000 sq ft) in size.

Zizzi will take a new 25-year lease on the 274 sq m (2,948 sq ft) unit R6 while Ed’s Easy Diner has taken a new 20-year lease on the 181 sq m (1,948 sq ft) Unit R10. Both Loungers with its 216 sq m (2,325 sq ft) Unit R8 for its Portivo Lounge and Chimichanga with its 339 sq m (3,656 sq ft) Unit R5 have also taken 20-year leases.

Andrew Guy, managing director of Ed’s Easy Diner, said: “We are delighted to be bringing Ed’s Easy Diner to Gloucester Quays as we expand across the UK. During 2013 we’re intending to add another 10 restaurants to our line-up along with several milk-shake stands.  Gloucester Quays fits right into our expansion programme and will allow more people than ever to enjoy our classic diner experience.”

Marc Ward, group head of acquisitions of the Gondola Group: “Gondola Group is pleased to have secured representation at the new Gloucester Quays leisure extension development for our Zizzi Italian restaurant brand. This is a very important development with a strong retail and leisure catchment area and we are delighted to have secured a unit here.”

Chimichanga chief executive Jonathan Kaye said: “We are looking forward to opening in Gloucester. We are confident that our restaurant will prove popular with people of all ages and be a great asset to Gloucester’s social scene.”

Thomas Rose, partner at Cushman & Wakefield, acted for the landlord.
