The Brooklyn Bowl music venue, which launched three years ago at the O2 Arena, has closed indefinitely.

A spokesperson for The O2 confirmed that the 800-capacity venue, which sits inside The O2 arena complex in London, was “closed until further notice while The O2 Entertainment District undergoes building work for its future designer outlet village”, which is due to be completed late 2018.

The spokesperson said: “Event organisers have been contacted to relocate or cancel scheduled shows and events while the company consults with its employees and other stakeholders. The hope is that following the completion of the building work Brooklyn Bowl London will be able to return.”

Opened in January 2014 in a 30,000sq ft former exhibition hall, London’s Brooklyn Bowl was operated by in partnership between The O2 owner AEG and Brooklyn Bowl founder and franchise owner Peter Shapiro, who also operates sites under the format in the US in Williamsburg and Las Vegas.
