Butlers Wharf Chef School in London has been forced to close because it could not find financial help from the industry to pay £106,000 rent arrears.

Southwark Council sent a foreclosure warning on Wednesday.

The closure has jeopardise the qualifications of 90 students and destroyed 16 jobs.

The school was a charity and located in Shad Thames behind Conran's Pont de la Tour restaurant.

A possible last-minute rescue by the University of Derby failed to materialise.
