The Grouch Club in Soho, in London's West End, has revealed ambitious expansion plans following last week's informal £10.2m offer from Benjamin Fry. It is planning a Groucho Town House Hotel in West London and it hopes to open Groucho membership clubs in other major cities, such as Dublin, New York and Paris.
The details emerged in a letter from the Groucho board to shareholders which sought to clarify that it had not received a formal offer from the hotel, bar and restaurant entrepreneur, nor had it sought one. Fry is keen to put the Groucho name on his hotels in Notting Hill and Chelsea.
