The Cyclist, the ‘refreshment rooms’ at Brighton railway station founded by Rupert Clevely’s Greenhall & Tibble, has closed, blaming ongoing railway disruption.

The bar-restaurant opened in July 2014 but has suffered during a year of railway staff shortages, strikes and replacement bus services.

Chef James Wyatt told The Argus newspaper the site, which has founded to recreate the railway refreshment of the Victroian age, had been left like a ghost town.

Clevely, who founded gastropub chain Geronimo Inns, works with Enterprise Inns on Hippo Inns, part of the pubco’s managed expert programme.
