Duncan Watts, former owner of Freedom beer, has revealed that the new owners of the brand will relaunch it this summer, the Morning Advertiser reports. The new owners of the brand will be Brothers Brewery, owned by the brothers Steve, Richard and Michael Knight. Steve Knight said the deal for the brand had been done on "an incredible amount of goodwill", and it is thought that no money was involved when the brand changed hands. Steve said: "Duncan wanted to find it (the brand) a good home and we have promised to continue brewing Freedom to a very high standard". Freedom will relaunch in organic and pilsner lager varieties, with the organic lager brewed in Germany and the pilsner brewed in Abbots Bromley, in Staffordshire, using Burton water. Watts said he was pleased to have found the beer a new home and would be staying on to be an ambassador for the brand. "They were enthusiastic and are building a bespoke brewery, which is incredibly important… I love the product and can't wait for the pilsner beer to become available again. I have become thoroughly bored with the range of beers available. I can't find anything new that excites me". Steve said of the beer's relaunch: "We will be selling in both the on and the off-trade market. We're not enormous in size, so we will be targeting prestigious venues in a bid to make the brand semi-exclusive. We also hope to tie up sponsorship deals with art exhibitions in London and Birmingham and be a friend to live music."
