BMW has launched a guide to the very best in British food, mapping out 101 of the country’s finest and most distinctive food destinations. The BMW 1 Series Good Food Ride gives details on over 50 restaurants and cafés, as well as delicatessens, farm shops, and local producers. The guide is based around the opinions and recommendations of experts from the food and drink industry, including chefs Richard Corrigan and Michael Caines. Each of the 101 places included have been put into categories. Heston Blumenthal’s Hinds Head was named best British food you’ve never tasted. Maiyango in Leicester was described as the place to watch out for, while Paul Rankin’s Cayenne restaurant in Northern Ireland was picked for having the most European feeling. Richard Benson, author of the guide, said: “There are numerous restaurant guides out there, but this is about encouraging people to jump in their car, to explore and to have a genuine food adventure.” The guide includes a book, website and podcasts with interviews of those who have been selected.
