A tom cat that helped propel off-trade sales of Bacardi Breezer to a record high in the run-up to Christmas is poised to return as part of an ongoing campaign for the brand.

AC Nielsen showed Bacardi-Martini's brand increased volumes by 69% during November and December compared with a 56% growth for the total £50m flavoured alcohol beverage market.

Smirnoff Ice came in second place, followed by Red Square.

The £4m television advertising campaign followed the nocturnal habits of a silver tabby cat with a love of late night bird-watching.
