Marlon Abela, who already owns two of London’s finest restaurants in The Greenhouse and Umu, is now drawing up plans to expand his restaurant business around the world. A second branch of A Voce, his Michelin-starred Italian restaurant in New York, is set to open soon at the Time Warner complex in Manhattan and he is looking at openings in Las Vegas, Miami and Dubai. At the same time, his Marc operation is also considering opening smaller branches of Umu inside smart hotels after being approached by an unnamed hotel group. Abela insisted he will not be joining the current trend to sell restaurants and said he was focused solely on expansion, with acquisitions more likely than any disposals.
