Britain’s biggest nightclubs group wants to quadruple its number of venues to 200.

Rekom UK, whose brands include Pryzm and Fiction, already has 51 clubs and bars.

It aims to hit the new target by 2028 and is looking to snap up sites in major cities such as Manchester and Liverpool.

Demand is strong on Saturday nights despite the cost-of-living crisis, chief executive Peter Marks told The Mail on Sunday. But weeknights are becoming more subdued.

‘What we’re seeing now is more movement to the weekend and that people are very led by big events such as Halloween, New Year and birthdays,’ Marks said. ‘Monday to Thursday were never a big part of trading, they’ve definitely dropped back a bit. Friday is stronger and then Saturday is OK.’

The company says its main customers – young people and students – are less likely to be hit by rising household prices and see clubbing as an ‘affordable treat’.
