The convictions of Guinness trio Jack Lyons, Tony Parnes and Gerald Ronson in 1990 may be ruled unfair by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg this week. Lawyers claim there was a conspiracy to secure their convictions, that the Crown unfairly kept crucial evidence from the trio and that their right to silence was unlawfully removed.

If the court does find in favour of the three, it will be a massive embarrassment for Britain's Serious Fraud Office and could result in a multi-million pound damages claim.
