The White Horse pub in Parson’s Green, London, gets ‘Beer Girl’ Melissa Cole’s vote as the best alfresco city centre spot for drinking. The former coaching inn and gin palace is her idea of beer nirvana, with a bar full of hand pumps and a legendary barbecue. Other places singled out by Cole are Sinclair’s Oyster Bar in Manchester, the Raven in Liverpool, the Waggon & Horses in York and Goff’s Manor at Crawley. The Observer 24/08/08 (Escape) page 4
