Nectar Taverns, the north west-based pub group, has been placed on the market with a price tag of c£10m, M&C Report understands.

The company, which was previously managed by Honeycombe Leisure and owned by private equity firm Beringea, currently operates 25 wet-led freehouses and is believed to have shown steady growth over recent years.

Colliers International has been appointed by the private owners to seek a sale of the freehold group, which is thought will appeal to rival trade buyers such as Amber Taverns, Bravo  and Hawthorn, and private equity.

The company was previously run by Amber chairman Clive Preston and chief executive James Baer.

Honeycombe Leisure had owned a minority stake in the business, which was previously placed on the market in June 2005 by Beringea, when it operated 29 pubs and was valued at over £20m.

The company eventually sold the business to a private property investor and leased it back on 35-year agreement.

In 2008, the group bought the leasehold interest of 28 former Cains Beer Company pubs on which it already owned the freeholds.
