KFC grew sales in the UK by 16% in Q1, the second biggest increase worldwide after China.

The UK territory’s contribution made up 6% of KFC global system sales in the first quarter of 2021.

The UK tracked ahead of worldwide growth, which was 11%, according to accounts from parent company Yum! Brands.

For KFC International, same-store sales declined 2% on a two-year basis, which includes the impact of about 2% of stores being temporarily closed as of the end of the first-quarter 2021.

The brand has 25,292 restaurants worldwide, and made $7.2bn in sales overall.

At Pizza Hut, sales in Europe declined by 23% in the first quarter.
