International restaurant group D&D London has reported its highest revenues to date for December  with overall revenue up 14% on the previous year and like for like sales in the UK up 10%.

The group, which operates 27 restaurants across London and two in Leeds as well as restaurants in Paris, New York and Tokyo, saw record sales across its estate.

Chief executive Des Gunewardena said: ”We had an exceptionally strong Christmas. What was good to see was the fact that business was well up on last year across the board. Stand out performers were our recently remodelled London restaurants (Quaglino’s, Avenue and Carom) and our restaurants in Leeds (Crafthouse and Angelica). These venues all recorded revenue growth of more than 20%. Sales growth at Christmas came from a combination of increased covers and growth in spends – champagne sales were up 15% on 2013.”

The group is making its Scottish debut this year as part of Land Securities £300m redevelopment of Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow. It is also developing the German Gymnasium in King’s Cross which is due to open in the autumn.
